hear/say is a vocal ensemble of friends that grew out of my graduate conducting recital, The Detail of the Pattern. Our first project was singing on that recital: a complete performance of Caroline Shaw’s Partita for 8 Voices and the world premiere of Leo Chang’s Shiitake Mushroom. Other projects included a performance of Missy Mazzoli’s Vesper Sparrow on a Northwestern Institute for New Music Student Showcase concert, and collaborations with composers Sam Scranton and Leo Chang on new scores.
